This is also an open recruiting event, so bring friends who you think would be a great addition to Lightning Bolts!

Adventure Campout
Get ready for an unforgettable weekend retreat at Pali Adventures - nestled in the heart of the San Bernardino mountains, surrounded by pristine alpine forest. The Lightning Bolts adventures include an 800-foot zip line, high ropes course, and tactical archery tag, private pool & waterslide, giant joust inflatables, toxic meltdown, obstacle courses, dodgeball, pickleball, cornhole, giant Jenga, giant Connect Four, KanJam, and Spikeball!
In the evenings we’ll take in a scenic sunset hike and roast s’mores at the campfire!
All meals are fully taken care of, and accommodations are provided so there is no tent needed.
Lost Trabuco Campout
THE LOST TRABUCO Fall Campout — O'Neill Regional Park, Trabuco Canyon
Two nights under 300-year-old oaks, 45 minutes from home, on private group sites reserved just for the Bolts. Rugged and rustic — tents, dirt, fire rings, no hookups — with gourmet campfire cooking from our pitmasters and marshmallows every night. Saturday: a 1,492-ft summit hike with Catalina on the horizon and a hidden-musket treasure hunt pulled straight out of the canyon's real history.
Trunk or Treat
After-school costume party! Pegasus dismisses early on this Friday and we set up decorated trunks in the parking lot — the kids trick-or-treat car to car.
Pizza party in the middle. Costumes for the kids and strongly encouraged for dads.
Pro tip: Pick a theme and decorate your trunk to match. Bring candy to hand out, and dress up yourself — the kids love seeing dads in costume.
Live Sports Experience
One night, one game, the whole crew in the same section. We're picking a live game and going together — Clippers at Intuit Dome, UCI Anteaters basketball, or Ducks at Honda Center, or whatever other cool ideas our Dads have access to. Geared up, and everybody losing their minds when somebody scores.
Mammoth Ski Trip (ALC)
Mammoth is the weekend the boys talk about all year. They ski about five hours a day in group lessons with their buddies, taught by Mammoth's certified instructors, helmets on, with their most dads on the mountain the whole time. Cozy winter wonderland, low stress, high memories.
Between runs there's sledding, tubing, snowmen, s'mores, hot chocolate, board games and movies, most meals happen together at the Captain's Condo, our larger townhome home base — where the dads have turned cooking for each other into a full-blown culinary arms race.
Dads don't have to ski; plenty sled, run the kitchen, or take one easy groomer and call it a season.
This is an A La Carte trip - not included in the annual dues.
Bolt-X Rocket Launch
The Bolts’ STEM crown. The boys build real rockets — engines, fins, payload bays — and watch them fly. We launch at Lucerne Dry Lake in the Mojave Desert. We sent 20+ rockets up in 2026 - two have come back. The rest are still up there.
SCHEDULE:
Launch site setup, safety briefing, name your rocket
First launches (low-altitude class)
Round 2 launches + altitude challenges
Pack out, head home
Pro tip: Old clothes — the dry lake is dusty. Safety glasses provided. Weather-dependent for the launch; flight conditions confirmed the morning of. Rocket-assembly classes happen the weeks before — watch for dates.
BoltChella
Two nights at the Wandery Ranch in Indio — lazy river, pools, desert hike, fire pit, great food and music. We call it BoltChella because it lands Coachella adjacent and we play the part.
SCHEDULE:
Friday afternoon — arrive, settle in, kickoff dinner around the fire pit
Saturday — morning hike, pickleball, basketball, lazy river, waterslides, s’mores, music, and fun.
Sunday morning — breakfast , last river float, pack out
Pro tip: Swimsuit, sunglasses, hat, sunscreen is mandatory. This trip may have a subsidy a la carte charge.
Beach Party & Pig Roast @ North Star Beach
Summer Beach Party & Pig Roast
Come enjoy a fun day with dozens of dads & sons for our annual Lightning Bolts beach event!
Time: 11am - 2pm
What: Beach Play, Hawaiian music, sand castles
Polynesian Pig Roast lunch @ 12pm!
Where: North Star Beach (next to NAC)

PARK: at the Newport Aquatics beach parking lot
Bring: Towel, sunscreen, goggles, beach chairs.
Sand toys, beach balls, floaties/life-vests (optional)
North Star Beach is a calm beach in the Back Bay
Pokemon TCG cards, if your son would like to do some epic trading!
What's the plan?
@ Beach play, sand castles, kayaks, SUP, etc.
@ We are bringing in a made-to-order 70lb whole roast pig (lechon) for lunch. Hawaiian side dishes with all the fixins.
We’ll take a legendary picture with all the Dads & Sons around the roast before chow time!
Family Movie Night
We’re excited to see you for our annual Lightning Bolts × Pirate Princesses Movie Night under the stars. This is always a fun event for the whole family: moms, dads, siblings, Princesses, and Bolts. We’ll have 60+ Pegasus families joining us for the festivities.
SCHEDULE:
5:30pm — Arrive, playground, parents grab a drink
6:00pm — Dinner: Savory crepes + pizza
6:30pm — Dessert: Sweet crepes + shave ice truck
Sunset — Movie & popcorn
Pro tip: Come early for a good spot — bring blankets & low lawn chairs.
